BISU Students Win International Hackathon

A team of four students from Bishkek Innovation University has won first place at the prestigious Global Innovation Challenge hackathon held in Singapore last week. The team, consisting of computer science and software engineering students, competed against 50 teams from 25 countries around the world.

The BISU team developed an innovative mobile application called "EcoTrack" that uses artificial intelligence to help users reduce their carbon footprint. The app analyzes users' daily activities and provides personalized recommendations for reducing environmental impact.

"We're incredibly proud of our achievement," said team leader Aibek Nurmatov, a third-year computer science student. "We worked hard to develop a solution that not only demonstrates technical excellence but also addresses an important global challenge."

The judges were impressed by the team's technical skills, innovative approach, and the potential impact of their solution. As winners, the team received a cash prize of $10,000 and an opportunity to participate in a three-month incubation program at a leading tech accelerator in Singapore.

The university's president, Dr. Elena Ivanova, congratulated the team on their achievement. "This victory demonstrates the quality of education and the level of talent we have at BISU. Our students are capable of competing and winning at the international level."

The success of the BISU team has attracted attention from local and international tech companies, with several expressing interest in the EcoTrack application and offering internship opportunities to the team members.

The Global Innovation Challenge is an annual event that brings together talented students from around the world to develop innovative solutions to global challenges. This year's theme was "Technology for Sustainable Development."
