BISU Expands Scholarship Program for Women in Tech
In an effort to increase gender diversity in technology fields, Bishkek Innovation University has announced the expansion of its Women in Tech scholarship program. The university will now offer 50 full scholarships annually to female students pursuing degrees in computer science, software engineering, data science, and other STEM fields.
"We believe that diversity drives innovation," said Dr. Aida Kasymova, Dean of the School of Computer Science and Engineering. "By increasing the representation of women in our technology programs, we're not only promoting gender equality but also enhancing the quality and creativity of our academic environment."
The expanded scholarship program is part of BISU's broader initiative to address the gender gap in technology education and careers. In addition to financial support, scholarship recipients will have access to mentoring, networking opportunities, and specialized career development resources.
"Our goal is not just to attract more female students to technology programs, but also to support their success throughout their academic journey and beyond," said Dr. Kasymova.
The university has also established partnerships with several women-led tech companies and organizations that promote gender diversity in the technology sector. These partners will provide internship opportunities and career guidance to female students at BISU.
Applications for the Women in Tech scholarships for the 2025-2026 academic year will open next month. Eligible candidates include both incoming freshmen and current students who demonstrate academic excellence and a passion for technology.
"We encourage all qualified female students to apply for these scholarships," said Dr. Kasymova. "This is an opportunity not only to receive financial support for your education but also to join a community of talented women who are shaping the future of technology."
